đź•’ The 12-Minute CEO Reset: A Routine for When Everything Feels On Fire
Picture this: your inbox is auditioning for a new season of Hoarders, your phone is buzzing like a toddler with a juice box, and the kids are asking what’s for dinner (as if you’re not already one meltdown away from door-dashing McDonald’. AGAIN).
Sound familiar? Welcome to being the CEO of…well, basically everything.
The good news? You don’t need a weeklong retreat in Bali to get your sanity back. You just need 12 minutes. Yep, even you can squeeze that in between back-to-back Zoom calls and refereeing a fight over the TV remote.
Step 1: Breathe (2 minutes)
Not a fancy Gwyenth Paltrow yoga breath. Just… breathe. In. Out.
Pro tip: set a timer so you don’t cheat and do 12 seconds instead of 2 minutes.
Step 2: Brain Dump (4 minutes)
Grab a notebook, open a doc, or scrawl on the back of an old receipt. Write everything that’s swirling around your brain: tasks, worries, grocery items, the fact that you still haven’t called your dentist. No editing. No judgment. Just get it out.
Step 3: Ruthlessly Prioritize (3 minutes)
Look at your brain dump and ask:
What absolutely needs my attention today?
What can wait?
What can someone else handle (or ignore… yes, ignoring is a strategy)?
Circle the top 3 things. That’s your list. The rest is background noise until further notice.
Step 4: Delegate or Delete (3 minutes)
For the stuff you didn’t circle, ask: Who else can take this off my plate?
If you have a team, assign it.
If you have kids, congrats, they’re now interns. (Half-kidding)
If it truly doesn’t matter? Toss it. (Permission granted.)
Why This Works
Because decision fatigue is real, and clarity beats chaos. This reset clears your mental browser tabs, forces you to focus, and reminds you that you are, in fact, running the show (instead of the show running you).
Your Challenge
Next time the world feels like it’s on fire, give yourself this 12-minute CEO reset. Then email me or DM me what changed. Spoiler: it won’t be “everything’s perfect,” but it will be “everything feels doable.”
